Iron Dwarves The Iron Dwarves race is everything you would expect: short, fierce, shuns magic and has mastered the world of engineering. Having harnessed steam power the Dwarf Guilds quickly set about exploring and was the first race to send out fleets from the Old Kingdom, in search of new lands and riches to the West.
Iron Dwarves are loners, choosing to shun most races in favor of their own kind. When they found the new world they settled a large land mass to the North East, naming it Karneia and in true Dwarven style they started to establish military bases on and around this land. Soon bases were to be found far to the west on a large island the Dwarves named Demaros.
The Ironclad ships of the Dwarf world make them ideal for combat, their angular bodies able to deflect enemy weapons fire. However, it is the harnessing of black powder to hurl massive explosive projectiles through the air that makes these ships truly awe inspiring during a fight.
These small warriors are not happy to simply wage war on the seas though. Above and below are also the dominion of this race as Airships and Submersible Machines add to the military arsenal of a Dwarven Fleet. Shroud Mages The Shroud Mages are an old and wily order of magic users, whose practices are a mixture of priestly ritual and the control of elemental energies. They can command the basic elements of air, earth, fire and water, but their true skill is in manipulating the elements of light and darkness. The Shroud Mages have become masters of shadow, being able to darken clear skies and befuddle the senses of onlookers. When the Great Rift split the Dwarven world in two the artisans of magic, known as the Shroud Mages, or Dark Ones, enlisted the aid of the Magus, a powerful faction within the Dwarf Kingdom, to aid in their exodus. The Magus were masters of steam and they set about building giant steam powered vessels to transport their new allies. Leaving the Shandelfan Kingdom, home of the Dwarven people, was not hard for the Magus who had grown tired of the constant bickering and in fighting of their kin. Bone Griffons The Bone Griffons were once a proud race that was afflicted by an evil magic that over the centuries destroyed its people. But death was not to come for these people, instead the withered bodies of this once great empire would sail the waters of the Uncharted Seas in search of life to exterminate. Orc Raiders The Orc Raiders have even more enthusiasm than the Iron Dwarves when it comes to exploring, or rather raiding. Their ships reflect this in their design. They are built with forward momentum in mind, most if not all of the weapons fire forward, and many of their ships are hardened for ramming. Thaniras Elves The Thaniras Elves are, without any shadow of a doubt, an aggressive race of warmongers. In the Old World the kingdom of this race is drawn together from the lands of three clans: the Lethrenn, Selethian and Canthus clans. The overall leader of the Thaniras Elves is Queen Frea Yaldoran, originally of the Selethian clan, who is fighting wars in the Old World against EVERY other race. War is second nature to the Thaniras Elves. From birth male offspring are chosen for combat; to die for their Queen is ranked as their highest honor, and warriors show no fear when faced with death. Imperial Humans At the heart of the human way of life is the Imperial State. For hundreds of years the humans have increased their power base in the Old World using the might of their Imperial Armies to basically get whatever they wanted – which was normally more land, power and natural resources. The Imperial Council, which sits at the core, is controlled by five Houses and these are the Arkos, Corvinus, Tepes, Váka and Dragutin.
These families of power offer up a representative to the Imperial Council every five years, normally voted for by the senior nobles of each family. Corruption is widespread and voting is commonly influenced by cash or the sharp end of a dagger. In the Old World an Overlord was then elected and this leader wielded the full might of the Imperial City.
Since its arrival in The Uncharted Seas the power base of the Imperial Council has grown and now sits proudly at the heart of the human race, but it is an uneasy time for Humans. The five great families are free of the Old World, far from the Overlords influence and are now vying for even more power and land. Not only are they at odds with the other races of The Uncharted Seas, but the five families are at odds with one another.
The arrival of the Dragon Lords could not have come at a worse time for the Humans - unable and unwilling to settle differences within their own kind, they are not powerful enough to face the danger of a Dragon Lord fleet.
The first landmass settled by humans was named Armidia, their first major port named Landfall, but it did not take the families long to settle their own lands around Armidia. It was ships from the House Tepes that first encountered the Dragon Lords; a small expeditionary force was destroyed by a swift assault. The lone cruiser that survived the fight told tales of ferocious warriors and ‘living’ ships. Dragon Lords Some believe the Dragon Lords were the first born Elf lords who dominated the younger races of the Old World for thousands of years, their reign only ending when the Elves fought amongst themselves and cast out the vilest of their own kind. Also believed to be immortal, legends claim that the Dragon Lords are themselves the reincarnated souls of the long dead dragons that first walked the world. Magic is deep rooted within the heart of the Dragon Lord race and as a result of this their projectile weaponry is made even more deadly. Dragon Lords are a fierce fighting force and in battle their hearts are filled with a darkness that consumes their foes. With the arrival of the Old World races in their dominion, the Dragon Lords have mobilized for war, hell bent on pushing the ‘invaders’ out of The Uncharted Lands. Dragon Lord vessels are magical machines, hewn from the living wood of ancient trees and forged with dragon hide to magically propel the ships along. Fierce fighters, the Dragon Lords rely upon magic to power their ship-born weaponry and powerful Magi draw upon the very elements themselves to protect their fleets. |
